The Pinterest Obsession and Beauty Recipe #1

So, just in case you had no idea, Pinterest is the absolute best website ever.
It's like Facebook on steroids. I mean, seriously, where else can you find recipes for tiramisu cupcakes? Or eye makeup ideas? And Victoria's Secret hair and wedding stuff and so much more all in one place? That's crazy awesome!
Anyway, get a Pinterest if you don't have one yet! If you need an invite, let me know and I'll send you one! :)
I straighten my hair daily, and the tips get brittle from heat damage. Plus, I really want pin straight hair but my hair isn't into that. Do I want a good straightener that won't burn my hair, and will get it pin straight? Definitely! Can I afford it? No. So for now, I'll just use my dinky Walmart straightener until I can afford a nicer one.
But the other day I was on there, and I saw a pin for using coconut oil on your hair. It talked about how coconut oil can help repair brittle hair. So, I tried it.
Let me just say, my hair feels pretty amazing.
It has stayed straighter and less fluffy throughout the day than normally. If I could top this with a good straightener, it would be the bomb. But my hair looks awesome today, I love it!
So, basically, this is what you do:
Grab yourself some coconut oil. The consistency should be thick and goopy. Slather it onto your hair where it needs it (if your scalp is oily, don't put the oil here- it'll make it worse!).
Next, put your hair up into a high bun and leave the oil in there for at least 10 minutes. I left the oil in for about an hour, but most people do it for 20-30.
Wash it out in the shower! Use lots and lots of shampoo- you don't want to end up with big greaseball hair! I didn't use any conditioner; just shampoo, and I was fine after a couple of rinses.
*****Disclaimer: if your hair ends up super-oily/stringy/greasy, don't blame me! It's a trial and error type thing. Try it on the weekend when you won't see too many people or can put your hair into a ponytail and not worry about it. Start out with a little oil, and add more as you feel more comfortable with knowing how many times to shampoo.

There you go! That was our first Beauty Recipe ever on Franklin Avenue!
I am SUPER excited to see where this blog goes! :)

Corny

So, my poor little sister has been working on projects all night long. The current project she's working on is for world history- making a Greek newspaper or something like that. And, being the good big sister that I am, I helped her with the comic section of the paper. Yes, it's corny. But, it is absolutely hilarious (at least we think so!).

That's all for today! :)
